Dorothy Fisher-Jones Gift of Real Estate
Dorothy Fisher-Jones spent a lifetime devoted to the love of singing and opera. Dorothy performed in Portland, Europe and New York. She was once offered a position with the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, and she performed opera in Germany for 20 years. In 1963, Dorothy returned to Portland, where she sang, taught voice, and performed.
A few years before she died, Dorothy made plans to help PCC students with financial need pursue careers in singing and music. She placed a bequest in her will to donate the proceeds from the sale of her home in Lake Oswego to the PCC Foundation at her death. When Dorothy passed, the house was sold and the proceeds were placed in a PCC Foundation endowed scholarship fund in her name. Dorothy's gift will remain intact in perpetuity, and the interest it generates will pay for tuition, private voice lessons, and otherwise assist with recipients' voice education and training.
Dorothy's foresight and planning will greatly expand the support available to PCC vocal music students.
